Welcome to the 23rd annual Swing Summit Summer Retreat!

After 3 years of a pandemic, we are finally able to openly run this event!  

Prices:  

$199 for the Weekend - Full Price

Early Bird: $150 - for the first 60 people or before Aug 1st - Save $50 per person 

Early Cat: $180 for the next 40 people - Save $20 per person

Coming to the dance means you accept and understand the potential health risks.

We recommend wearing a mask. However, wearing masks in most indoor public spaces is a personal choice.

• Proof of vaccination is no longer required to access businesses, events, and services.

Instructors:

Peter and Lauren are international swing dance masters.  It has been a while since we have had them here, so you're in luck.

They embody class, kindness, and knowledge of this dance we so hold dear.  They both are masters in Lindy Hop, Balboa, and Shag.

Jason Starr and Justine Robinson.  Local Shag instructors with a passion for the community and dancing.   Justine has been teaching locally for over 5 years and is a respected dancer in the Fraser Valley and Vancouver.  Jason Starr has been involved with Royal City Swing and Suburban Swing for over 5 years as well.  Teaching drop-in classes and workshops.  Individually and together they have performed in many events around BC. 

Kamron Sammons will be our guest blues instructor.  Modern blues as a dance, focuses on subtle and distilled movements. Richer connections and freedom from rhythmic assumptions and patterned steps. Today, modern blues dancing encompasses a big family of dances danced to blues music and jazz, and sometimes drawing on diverse influences.

Includes: 

3 days of Workshops (there will be beginner level classes, Intermediate plus, and all levels classes) (Blues, Shag, Balboa, and Lindy Hop) 3 nights of dances  Saturday pool party

***Bring your own food and Towels.

***Please bring your own sleeping bag***

Pool and hot tub available all day and into the evening unless being cleaned.

If you're not in the right classes, you may be asked to step out.  Please ensure you go to the correct levels.  

Friday: Registration from 4-9pm  

Class  600-700pm  Peter & Lauren Beginner Lindy Hop

Class 700-800pm Peter & Lauren All levels Socially danceable dance moves and etiquette.

Class 800-900pm Kam All levels Blues

Dance from 930 pm - 12 am DJ 

Saturday:

Class: 1000 am - 1100 am Jason & Justine All Levels - Shag Starting simple and moving up to more difficult. 

Class: 1100 am - 1200 pm Peter & Lauren Intermediate Plus - Balboa 

(You must be completely familiar with Balboa basics to take this class.)

Lunch 

Class: 130 pm - 230 pm Peter & Lauren Intermediate Plus Lindy Hop 

(You must be completely familiar with Lindy Hop basics to take this class. Know a swing out, a circle, and a send out comfortably)

Class: 230 pm - 330 pm Peter & Lauren Beginner Lindy Hop Continued

Class: 330 pm - 430 pm Peter & Lauren Beginner Balboa

Pool Party / Dinner 430 pm - 830pm - free time to enjoy the area.

Jack And Jill 9 pm 

Dance from 930 pm to 1 am Silent DJ after 1130 

3 DJs at the same time!

 

Class:  10 am - 11 am Peter & Lauren Intermediate Lindy/Balboa (Instructors Choice)

Class: 11 am -12 pm Peter & Lauren All levels 

Dance at Suburban Swing in Abbotsford  730-11 pm (Matsqui Community Hall)

Sunday 730 pm - 11 pm Dance with Live Band - Meridian Jazz Orchestra
